Birthdays, Berries, and Babies! Oh my!

With Peter studying and me working, we grew to be quite busy and a tad stressed out.  My mom was throwing a baby shower for my sister-in-law who's having the first Visser grand baby (so excited!!!), we thought that this would be a good time to take a little break from real life.  I requested a week off of work, packed our bags, and made some plans with family.  I am always excited to visit family but this trip was a lot of fun because we got to hang out with some cute kids and visit some friends we haven't seen in a while.

But first, on more recent news, Lori turned 23 yesterday! I heard she didn't have birthday cake planned which I thought was insane.  EVERYONE deserves a cake for their birthday! So I made one for her and we celebrated with treats, games, and playing with their new cat, Farley.  It was a fun night.

Okay, so they were more like cupcakes rather than an actual cake.  But it still counts!

Happy Birthday, Lori!

Now, back to our trip.
After a long, hot drive, we stayed at my parents house for a bit before we went to Christie's house to play with these munchkins!

After playing with them for a bit, we all got in our cars and drove a few minutes south to McBride's Briar Patch to pick some raspberries and blackberries.  It was awesome! I loved that property! Me and Peter hope to one day own some property like this and seeing it all made me hope for it even more.
*Note: Some of these pictures I sent to Lisa so she could put them on her blog.  So you are going to be seeing the same pictures here.  Sorry!

Lisa and I loved the owner's dog, Bella!

I kept having problems keeping the girls in one spot or looking at the camera.  These were the best ones I got.  I'd say they turned out pretty great :)

While picking, the girls noticed that there were some reindeer on the property as well. So, naturally, we had to go over and feed them some of our berries before we went back to picking some more.

The yellow ones were golden raspberries.  I didn't know they even existed until I came across one.

I made some pretty good jam with all these berries!

While we were heading back to our cars, the girls found a horse close by, so Lisa and I took them over to say hi real quick before we headed back.

This place was great! I hope to come back here sometime soon.

Like I mentioned earlier, we got to see some of our friends that have moved out of Rexburg and that we haven't seen in a long time.  We met up with Kylie and Chad and I got to play with Brynn again which was great!

I sure did miss these girls!

We also met up with our friends Vanessa and Kento and got to meet their newest addition, Luke.  Sadly, he got a bad case of Botulism and so we had to meet him in the hospital, but he's slowly recovering and doing better (thank goodness!) and I hope to see him again soon.  Hopefully, next time I see him, he won't be connected to monitors and in the comfort of his home with his strong mama holding him tight.

Towards the end of the week, we finally had the baby shower.  It was a lot of fun and my mom did a great job with decorations.  All in all, I would say it was a success!
And I am SO excited to meet our first Visser niece!

While I was helping with the shower, Peter sent me a picture of him having fun at Cabela's with Christie and her kids.

I didn't get to see all of my siblings at once, and since they are all around Salt Lake, I like seeing all of them when I have a chance.  We decided Sunday dinner would be the easiest way and it was great to see everyone.  Emily and Mike stuck around a bit and we played a fun card game with them before they headed back to their place.

I think Emily was being a bit camera shy, hence hiding behind the cards.

Like most vacations, as quick as they start, they quickly end.  We didn't want to deal with a hot car ride again so we put off leaving for later in the evening.  Plus we got to take Lisa back with us so the extra company made the drive more fun.
Before we left, my mom had to take us to experience the World's Best Corndog.  Peter and I had tried it one summer before this one but it was fun to educate Lisa on what the world's best corndog tasted like.

I loved this little trip! It was great to get away from reality and see some of our favorite people.  I don't know where we'll end up in the next year, but I hope that it'll be somewhat close to these people.

I know some people that read this blog check it regularly to see if there are any updates.  Once I realized this, I tried to put a better effort at updating this more often.  So, from now on, once a week, I will be posting on this.  So every Monday, there should be a post from us!
