Davenport, Iowa: Home of Jack Frost

We thought we had been through the worst of winter when we drove through Cheyenne in December.  But out here, it's just gotten worse.  We heard that February out here is the worst month in winter and we're starting to believe that.  About a week or so ago, we've gotten temperatures as high as the mid-teens but wind chills that have lowered temperatures to -27.  It's gotten to where we actually look forward to 20 degree weather!

So, for our friends out west and down south that are "freezing".  I'm sorry.  But you aren't going to be getting any sympathy from us.

The only one that seems to love the snow and not mind the cold is Murphy.

(The most recent pictures we have are from a few weeks ago.  But seeing as the only change in our weather was that it was getting colder, I felt it was still appropriate to post these. Once again, I'm sorry it's taken so long to update.)

Over Superbowl Sunday, we got hit with a snow storm.  Apparently it was so bad, we received texts from people in our ward telling us that church has been cancelled.  While we enjoyed staying warm in our apartment, we could tell Murphy was getting a tad antsy.  He needed to go to the bathroom anyway, so we put on some layers and took him to the Bark Park that is at our complex.  His reaction to the snow surprised me.  I thought he would get overwhelmed by it all.  Instead, he was jumping all over and poking his head under the snow to find a scent to follow.  It was like he was a puppy all over again!
Of course, to say we weren't entertained would be a lie.  We found it quite hilarious to see our small dog appear, then disappear in the snow, only to appear again.  It was a good snow day and it was heartwarming to see Peter and Murphy bond, even in the chilliest of circumstances.

The view from our window that morning

He would bury his head under the snow to find a scent.  When we called his name, his face would pop up and he would ignore the fact that there would always be some snow resting on his snout.

These two have become the best of friends!

Our "we hate the cold but we like Murphy, so we're going to pretend we're happy" faces.

I have never been more excited for spring in my entire life.
