Viva la Chile!

This is a week late but better late than never!

The 18th of September was a special day for Peter, and for the country of Chile.  It is the Independence day of Chile.  Seeing that Peter spent two years of his life there, we felt it necessary to spend the day celebrating.  We invited some close friends plus a couple of Peter's mission buddies over to enjoy Completos (aka a hot dog with avocado, tomatoes, and mayonnaise on it.)  The kids enjoyed it and we all had a good time enjoying each other's company.

Peter 'mission food'.

We all were in the kitchen involved in our conversation...

...while Emma watched "Tangled" with the boys.
Kylie, Kento, Vanessa, and the back of Whitney's head...

Whitney liked watching the movie with Peter:)

It wasn't a fancy night, but it was a fun night. And I have a feeling we'll keep celebrating it for many years to come!

Feliz Diece Ocho de Septiembre Chile!
(and I apologize to all Spanish speakers out there for completely butchering the spelling on that...)

Slowly but surely...

Summer was great this year.  We have a lot of fun memories that were made and we look forward to many more memories that we will make next summer.  That being said, I have to say that Summer is not my favorite season at all and now that is drawing to a close I must admit, I am really excited about it.

Fall is my favorite season hands down!  Up here the air is getting crisper, the nights are getting colder and the stores are finally displaying candles that smell like pumpkin pies and apple cider.  Despite all of these gradual changes happening, Fall has kind of been disappointing me in it's big appearance.  The one thing I get super excited about when Fall comes is seeing the leaves change color.  And it hasn't happened yet!  I don't understand why this year, Fall has the need to tease me by getting colder and helping retail but not showing me her beautiful fall colors through the leaves changing in the trees.

Until today...

I have seen the first real sign of Fall!

Okay, so it's not THAT dramatic of a change, heck, it's not even a good quality photo (good ol' phone...) but they are changing and you have no idea how excited I got when I saw this beautiful symbol of the Fall season.  Fall is coming slowly up here but you better believe that I will welcome it with open arms when it comes completely.
