Bird Watching from the Bedroom Window

Spring is slowly working it's way into Davenport, Iowa (thank heavens!). Temperatures are slowly rising, it's raining more than it's snowing, and birds are making their appearances known by chirping early in the morning.  It wakes us up a bit early in the morning which should bother us, but we love the sounds of birds chirping by our window so we don't mind.  In fact, when spring came last year, we decided to get a suet feeder and hang it on a tree that hangs out just under our second story window. The bird feeder looked too depressing in the winter when all the birds flew south, so when spring came again this year, we didn't waste time hanging more suet and waiting for our feathered friends to feast!
I worked this past Saturday which meant Peter had to find something to entertain himself until I came home.  After spending his morning playing frisbee golf with some ward buddies, he looked out our bedroom window and saw many different birds chowing down on our Wal-Mart suet and took some pictures.

I can't wait to see more of these beautiful birds once spring has officially sprung!

Weekend with the Cantua's

Spring break reached Creighton University in Omaha and fortunately, that means a fun weekend with the Cantua family!

Peter got a text from James suggesting that maybe they should spend spring break with us here in Davenport.  Obviously we agreed and counted down the days until they showed up.  Sadly, I didn't give enough notice at work to ask for time off, so I had to work most of the weekend.

However, I did have Sunday off and didn't have to work until noon on Monday.  So we spend our Sabbath taking Murphy on a much needed walk (one of the only time I took pictures), playing games, watching the all time favorite "The Office", and eating way too much junk food.  Add cute baby Zadi to the mix, and you have a recipe for a fun evening!

This is the smile of a man who secretly wanted to kill a certain dog who was being naughty the whole walk.

Monday, we had breakfast early and took the Cantua's to The Village of East Davenport (an old part of town that has cute shops and restaurants).  We continued exploring at a park by the river where Peter and James climbed on everything while their wives rolled their eyes and walked around.

This is anything but a candid shot.  Peter likes to look dramatic in his photos.

We sure love the Cantua family!  They are so much fun to have around!  After saying our goodbyes in the Red Robin parking lot, we walked into our quiet and empty apartment, wishing it was noisy and full of stuff again.  We can't wait to see James, Kayle, and Zadi again and hope it's sooner rather than later!
