Happy Birthday Peter!

Today was my guy's birthday.  And, of course, it had to fall in the middle of finals week.  We weren't going to celebrate it until Sunday but the thought of someone skipping out on their actual birthday, especially my husband's, was unacceptable to me.  So I decided to celebrate it today.

That's a hatchet and the books  "World War Z" and "The Zombie Survival Guide".  He was pretty excited.

(No make up is what happens during finals week.)

Happy Birthday Peter!  I love you!

A Camp out and a Wedding

This Fourth of July was a bit different than last year.  Peter and I were planning on spending the day camping with Lisa and some of her friends.  But alas, I was needed at McDonald's and so we decided to have a Fourth of July "eve" camp out.
Peter and I got to our destination of Twin Bridges Park a few hours before Lisa and her roommates did, so we decided to start preparing our little home away from home out with Mother Nature, as well as played in the river close by. (I just stuck my feet in the water and read a good book.  Nothing better!)

That's right.  I put that tent up. By myself.

We found my old, cheap dice that I use to hang on the rear view mirror.  It burned pretty quick.

Finally, Lisa and her buddies showed up and after we indulged in hot dogs, S'mores, and a yummy dutch oven dinner, the girls wanted to go for a little dip in the water.  (The photos got a bit more blurry the darker it got.  Sorry!)

It was a fun night but once morning came, I was ready to get back to civilization.  We spent a fun Fourth just relaxing at home and reflecting on the wonderful freedoms we are blessed to have.

This weekend was also fun because Peter's cousin, Melissa got married to Adam and we were lucky enough to be able to attend to the luncheon later that afternoon.  Melissa looked beautiful and so happy and it was great to see some of Peter's family.

Proof we didn't just crash the party.  We were legitimately invited.

They didn't have a cake to cut, so everyone had a good laugh as they cut an extra eclair that was there.

Needless to say it was a great weekend!  Hopefully with school coming to a close soon, Peter and I will enjoy more camp outs with friends soon.  But we are definitely counting down the days until we get to go visit the rest of the Barnes family in ATLANTA!
