Our new buddies, car crashes, and dinner by the pond...

This past week, we seem to have attracted some new friends!
It all started when me and Peter were coming back home from grocery shopping.  I went to get the mail while Peter went to unlock the door.  As I was looking in our empty mailbox, I heard "Hey little guy! What are you doing there?"  I looked up and saw Peter looking under the steps to the second floor of our complex.  He finally reached under them and out came a little cat.  His face lit up like a little kid when he held him and we let him in our place for a bit.

Peter really wanted to keep him, I was concerned that he belonged to someone else.  We fed him, played with him a bit, and when we opened our door, he ran out and that was the last time we saw him...that day.
The next day he came back.  We let him in again and as we were feeding him and playing with him, our neighbor came by looking for him.  Turns out he's her cat and she was embarrassed that he was 'mooching' off of us.  She explained that she saw him at a home where the original owners weren't really taking care of him and just wanted him gone. We aren't allowed to have pets in our four plex, but she said that she couldn't leave him where he was.  So she took him in, cleaned him, took him to a vet, and named him Todd. We told her we really didn't mind having him hang out with us and that he's welcome over any time.  So now, at a certain time, we leave our door open, she sends Todd out, and he comes over!  It's like having a pet without all the responsibility!

The next day we decided to go to the nature park to watch the ducks.  Usually, when we go, there aren't that many to entertain us and we don't spend that much time there.  We found a machine that dispensed duck food (turns out bread is bad for ducks.) and the minute they heard that little knob turn, we got bombarded by more ducks than we thought were actually there!  It was so much fun seeing all the different ducks, plus one massive old goose and they got so comfortable with us, they were fine with eating right out of our hands (They first warmed up to Peter, then they finally decided they liked me).

I think this one was my favorite one.

The goose looks mean, but was actually pretty chill and liked hanging around Peter.

I love this place!  It's not a frequently occupied park so we can have the whole place to ourselves for the most part and it was very peaceful and fun to discover different critters where ever we went.

We liked it so much, we decided to plan a barbecue on Sunday and we decided to invite Lori and Zach.  They had just come back from Georgia and, though the ducks didn't want to show off that much to them, it was still a fun day.

Another fun thing that happened this weekend was the fair was in town!  So we figured that, we have seen a bunch of animals this week already, we should go see some more!

I wanted a picture with the goat.  But the goat didn't really care that I was there.

Part of the fair had a demolition derby and of course, we had to go!  There is something entertaining about watching cars crash each other on purpose.

This was a fun week for us.  We love animals so the fact that we got to hang out with a bunch of them made for a great week for us.  Adding the demolition derby to that just made it even better!

I got the week off of work and we decided to pack our bags and visit family in Utah and I am looking forward to updating this with all the fun stuff we do this week!
